The Health Information Technology associate degree profession has been listed as one of the top five professions for rapid growth potential with an estimate of more than 47,000 additional professionals needed by the year 2008 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). In addition, the U.S. News and World Report has twice selected the health information technology profession as one of the top 25 careers in the nation.
The Health Information Technology Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Program graduates are, eligible to sit for the national certification examination administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). After successfully passing the examination, graduates earn the credential RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician).
Post-graduation, students and employers are encouraged to complete a Graduate Satisfaction survey and an Employer Satisfaction survey. The surveys are outcome-focused and designed to assist in the assessment of program effectiveness through an ongoing quality improvement process. We are proud to announce a 100% Graduation Satisfaction Rate and a 100% Employer Satisfaction rate for 2011.
