CWD Receives Support for Community Outreach Initiatives
The Division of Community and Workforce Development strives to build strong partnerships in order to help impact the community holistically by providing services to the community. As a result of the University’s efforts to support affordable housing and small business incubation, the Division of Community and Workforce Development became the recipient of $12,500 on behalf of Capital One Bank and Red River Bank. Senator Lydia Jackson, representative from Capital One Bank, presented Chancellor Belton and Vice Chancellor Janice Sneed with a check in the amount of $7,500 and a $5,000 check was given to the University this spring by Harold Turner, Area President, and Willie Spears, Community Liaison, of Red River Bank. Funds will not only be used to allow additional client participation within community based training programs; it will also assist with the development costs for the Southern University at Shreveport Community Development Corporation (SUSLA CDC). Southern University at Shreveport is proud of our community partners and thank them for their contributions.
