How soon will I see my courses after I finish registering?Your courses should be available within 24 hours of completing the entire registration and payment process. If the process was completed on a Friday, your courses should be available by Noon the following Monday. If you are a first-time student, your account may not be available at all until you complete the entire registration and payment process.
What do I do if some of my courses are not listed in Blackboard?All current semester Blackboard courses will not be available to students until the instructors choose to make the courses available and add the students from the current class roster. Also, please note that not all SUSLA courses have an associated Blackboard component. Please ask your instructor if the course you are taking has an associated Blackboard component. If your courses do have a Blackboard web site but you still cannot access them, please contact the instructor to request that you be added to the Blackboard component. Courses and accounts will be available within 24 hours of completion the entire registration and payment process. Current courses with Blackboard components and faculty contact information are listed under the Faculty and Course Information links in the main Blackboard Help page.
I use America Online (or MSN, or CompuServe) and I am having problems with Blackboard. What can I do?AOL, MSN and other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use proprietary browsers that aren't always fully compatible with Blackboard. Try adjusting the security preferences on your account to allow Blackboard to function properly. If that doesn't work, it is recommended that you log onto the internet using your ISP, then minimize the proprietary browser and use Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Firefox to utilize any areas found on the SUSLA website. If you are using dial up, don't forget to click something on your ISP proprietary browser occasionally so the service won't time out and log you off. My instructor sent an email to everyone in class, but I didn't get it. Why not?First while logged into Blackboard, go to the SUSLA Blackboard Welcome Page by clicking on the SUSLA Blackboard tab at the top. Under the Tools menu on the left click on Personal Information at the bottom of the list. Click Edit Personal Information and verify that the email address listed for you is a valid email address that you have access to. If it is not correct, enter the correct email address and click Submit at the bottom of the page. This is the email account where you will get any email sent through Blackboard. Email sent via Blackboard and forwarded to AOL, Hotmail or Yahoo may not arrive because the recipient is not in the "To" line. The recipient may be listed in the "Bcc", so it looks like bulk or junk mail to some systems and may be in those respective folders. Add your instructor's email address to your contact list and that should allow the email to go through. You might also need to adjust the security preferences on your email account to allow email from Blackboard.
Why are there extra classes in my My Courses listing?Please note that the list of courses that appears in your My Courses module may list Blackboard courses taken during prior semesters. Click the Edit icon and uncheck the boxes by the course you do not wish to see on your My Courses module. To add them back, click the Edit icon and check the boxes of the courses you wish to see. If you have dropped a course, please remind your instructor to remove you from the Blackboard component of the course. This is not an automatic process. Faculty contact information can be found under the Faculty and Course Information links in the main Blackboard Help page. Also, you may have inadvertently been added to a course in which you are not enrolled. Please contact the instructor of that course and ask that you be removed from the class.

In the email, please include your full UserName and all Blackboard courses in which you are enrolled, including the Banner CRN (Course Reference Number) or course number and section number.
How do I access Blackboard?
NOTE: You must have a valid SUSLA UserName and password to access the Blackboard System.
Browse to http://www.susla.edu. Click on the "Blackboard Learning System " icon on the screen or click on one of the "Blackboard" links in the pulldown menu.
Click on "Login to Blackboard".
Click on the "Login" Button. (NOT the "Course Catalog" button!) A dialog box will appear.
Type your UserName and your password then click the "Login" button.
Student UserNames are your first initial, the first nine characters of your last name without special characters (\ , - ") , and the last four digits of your Banner ID located on your student schedule, your fee sheet and on the back of your Student ID card.
- For example: your Banner ID is 900099999 and your firstname initial is J.
- If your last name is Smith, your user ID will be jsmith9999.
- If your last name is Smith-Alex, your ID will be jsmith9999.
- If your last name is Washington, your ID will be jwashingto9999.(First 9 characters, as last name is larger than 9 characters)
Your initial password is your 6 digit date of birth- no dashes or spaces. Example: if your DOB is March 30, 1990 then your password will be 033090. (NOTE: If your password is alphanumeric and lowercase doesn't work, try uppercase. Passwords are case sensitive.)
If you change your name or the spelling of your name in Banner it may result in the creation of an additional account in Blackboard. Blackboard creates your UserName based on the way it is spelled in Banner. Accounts for new students are created upon the completion of the payment process at the beginning of each semester.
What do I do if I receive an error message saying that my UserName and password are incorrect?
Your initial password is usually your 6 digit DOB(no dashes or spaces).
If you've changed your password and don't remember it, try your password first in all uppercase then in all lowercase. If your password has numbers in it, try it first with the numbers above the alphabetic keys, then with the numbers on the keypad on the right of your keyboard.
If your password still doesn't work, or if you've ever changed your password and have forgotten it, then send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 318-670-6404. In the email, please include your full UserName and all Blackboard courses in which you are enrolled, including the Banner CRN (Course Reference Number) or course number and section number.

I followed the instructions for Lost Password but I never got an email from Blackboard. Why?
Lost password notification (and any email send by your instructor or classmates through Blackboard) is sent to the email address stored in your Blackboard Personal Information. By default, that email address is your Blackboard UserName @susla.edu. If you have not activated your SUSLA Email Account, then you will be unable to receive the lost password notification.
