Text Box: Dear Participant:
Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) takes great pleasure in hosting its fourth Economic Development Forum on March 14, 2008, at the beautiful Shreveport Convention Center located at 400 Caddo Street, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101. The mission of the Economic Development Forum is to network with local and state leaders from business, industry and government to improve the economic welfare of our city, region, and state through collaborations with higher education.
Southern University at Shreveport, an institution within the Southern University System, takes pride in its role of providing quality education to its students, while being committed to the total community. SUSLA prepares students for careers in technical and occupational fields, awards certificates and associate degrees, and offers courses and programs that are transferable to other colleges and universities. Dedicated to excellence in instruction and community service, this open enrollment institution promotes cultural diversity, provides developmental and continuing education and seeks partnerships with business and industry.
We are pleased to have partners and exhibitors with us in hope that you will take advantage of their valuable resources. As participants, we encourage you to visit our academic program exhibits and other community and governmental booths.
While shaping the goals of this forum, we recognized that it takes a unified community working collectively to create long-term, sustainable change. A skilled workforce is a very valuable economic development tool. It is an asset that attracts investment, promotes entrepreneurship, and stimulates job creation. The Economic Development Forum will encourage dialogue to empower Southern University at Shreveport to respond to the educational needs of our state and local communities.
Economic development cannot occur without an educated and skilled workforce. It comes down to a commitment to our most important resource- our people. We invite you to invest in our local community by participating in the Southern University at Shreveport 2008 Economic Development Forum. Together we will make a difference!
