CERT Partners with SUSLA for Film Industry Grant
Consortium of Education, Research and Technology (CERT) of North Louisiana received a $40,000 Community Block Grant to provide pre-employment short-term training and internships in the film industry for Shreveport youth ages 18-24 in target areas. “The funding will surely create economic opportunities and expand job opportunities in the film industry,” stated Program Manager Yolanda Gilyard. Southern University at Shreveport Division Community and Workforce Development Department of Workforce Training will provide pre-employment training and manage an internship program geared to area local film producers have identified as critical to their workforce needs. The goal is to train 24 participants in courses to include protocol, conflict resolution, anger management, money management, communications, coping with peer pressure, interviewing skills, dress for success, and application/resume writing. Upon completion of the program participants will receive Louisiana Work Ready Certificates.
