SUSLA 5th ANNUAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FORUM
Loans. Marketing. Stimulus. Package. Customer Service.
Shreveport, LA – Southern University at Shreveport will hold its 5th Annual Economic Development Forum, Fri., Mar. 27, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., at the Shreveport Convention Center. The theme of this year’s forum is “Small Businesses and Non-Profits Surviving Today’s Economy”.
Keynote luncheon speaker will be Donald R. Cravins, Jr. who was recently appointed by Senator Mary Landrieu as head of Staff for the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Prior to his appointment by Sen. Landrieu, Cravins served as a member of the Louisiana Senate from Dec. 2006 until Jan. 2009, and was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2004 until elected to the Louisiana Senate.
Since the forum’s goal is to help both for profit businesses and nonprofit organizations “Survive Today’s Economy,” two break-out sessions will be presented during the morning.
For nonprofit organization, Susan Hymel, director of Special Projects for the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO), will present “Non-Profits Coping with the Cutbacks …Survival for Tight Times!”
The business session panelists and their topics are:
An afternoon session will be offered to help business representatives register with various state and federal government procurement agencies in preparation for participating in projects to be undertaken under the Obama Stimulus Package.
