CERT, Encana Oil & Gas and Shell Oil Announce Summer LA Energy Venture Camps at Local Institutions
Shreveport, LA – The Consortium of Education, Research and Technology (CERT) of North Louisiana will hold a press conference with the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Higher Education Chairman, Dr. Phillip Rozeman, this Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 10:30a.m., on the main campus of Southern University at Shreveport in the L. C. Barnes Administration Building. Encana Oil and Gas representatives, Shell Oil officials and School Superintendents from NWLA will be in attendance.
The press conference will announce the partnership of CERT, Encana Oil and Gas, and Shell Oil to coordinate 4 one-week, LA Energy Venture Camps this summer: 2-camps at SUSLA and 2-camps at BPCC. During each camp, students will work in teams, participate in hands-on interactive games and exercises, and perform lab-based experiments around all types of energy, as well as energy efficiency and conservation. Students will also learn about career opportunities in our region’s growing energy industry. Award amounts: $110,000 by Encana and $25,000 by Shell.
