2008 Jaguar Radiothon Raised over $23,000
Once again SUSLA hosted the Jaguar Radiothon over the airwaves of three major local radio stations, raising over $23, 000 for the institution.
Hour by hour, contributions “rang” in over the phone lines from listeners across the Ark-La-Tex pledging their dollars to help support scholarships, divisions, departments and general operations for SUSLA. Student, faculty and staff volunteers manned the phone lines and appeared as “guest DJ’s”.
Representation from the entire institution spoke to the hearts and minds of listeners allowing them to hear first-hand how their pledges will directly affect student learning and aid a great need.
Alumni members and community leaders such as Mayor Cedric B. Glover, Caddo Parish School Board Member Dottie Bell and State Representative Roy Burrell put their money where their hearts are by making pledges and appearances in support of SUSLA.
Throughout the day everyone was energized and nourished by generous food donations from Griggs Enterprises- McDonalds, Schlotzky’s Deli, Domino’s Pizza North Market location—Manager Jerry Butler, Bob Johnson of Stateline Barbeque and The Southern University Shreveport Foundation (SUSF).
