11TH ANNUAL GENTLEMEN’S COOKING CLASSIC

SUSF President Mr. Winzor Andrews flanked by this year’s honoree’s Jason and Michael Brady-Owners of Wine Country Bistro. The Southern University at Shreveport Foundation hosted the 11th Annual Gentlemen’s Cooking Classic (GCC), Saturday, June 26th at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in the Red River Room. Known for its fabulous cuisine, the GCC has become the largest gathering of diverse and exceptionally talented Chefs in the Shreveport/Bossier area. This year’s theme: “Good Friends, Delicious Foods and Fine Wine.”

For one day, these distinguished gentlemen exchange their designer suits, Mont Blanc pens and/or uniforms for aprons and spatulas to raise funds for scholarships for students at Southern University at Shreveport. The GCC has hosted more than seventy chefs and thousands of patrons in the past. Celebrity participants included Mayor Cedric B. Glover, former Mayor Keith Hightower, Sheriff Steve Prator and many popular local restaurant chefs.

This year, the event honored and featured local Celebrity Chefs, Jason and Michael Brady, Owners of Wine County Bistro and the City of Shreveport’s Chief of Police, Henry Whitehorn and Fire Chief, Brian Crawford, as the evening’s “Southern Gentlemen.” Mr. John Hubbard, Manager External Affairs, AEP SWEPO served as Chair, and Mrs. Helen Godfrey-Smith, President and CEO of Shreveport Federal Credit Union as Co-Chair.
