SUSLA Hosts 2010 Spring Commencement

Shreveport, LA - Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana will host its 2010 Spring Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., on the main campus in the Health and Physical Education Complex, 3050 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. There are approximately 232 graduates. The public is invited to attend.

Mrs. Helen Godfrey-Smith will serve as the Keynote Speaker at the commencement. She is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Shreveport Federal Credit Union where she has served since 1983. The financial institution has grown from less than 2-million in assets to approximately $80 million in assets today. Mrs. Helen Godfrey-Smith grew up in Jefferson, TX. She was educated in the public schools of Marion County and attended college at Houston Tillotson College in Austin, TX, where she received her BA Degree in Science. She has since continued her education at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and LSU in Shreveport. She received the highest designation for a professional in her field – the Certified Credit Union Executive.
