Adjunct Instructor – SU College Connect Program at SUNO (College Level Courses)
Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana. It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System. The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate students in a specific field of expertise
- Follow a pre-designed syllabus and ensure that the objectives and goals of the course are taught throughout the semester
- Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, assignments, and exams that align with the objectives of the pre-designed syllabus
- Grade assigned papers, homework assignments, in-class assignments, quizzes, and exams
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, performance on assignments, and performance on examinations.
- Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum either during departmental meetings or during meetings with faculty by subject matter
- Advise students on how to be successful in the course
- Stay abreast of current trends and teaching strategies within the course being taught or his/her field
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in field or a related field from a regionally accredited institution in the given subject, i.e. English, Literature, Public Speaking, Communications, History, Political Science, Mathematics, Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, Health & P.E., Music, Art, Spanish, Computer Science, Psychology, and Sociology.
- Candidates can also have 18 graduate hours in the respective discipline.

- Evidence of excellent teaching at the collegiate level for diverse and multi-cultured students
