Entrance Clerk

Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Entrance Clerk. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana.  It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System. The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.


Position Overview:

The Entrance Clerk performs Covid-19 symptomatic screening of all visitors and vendors by asking health screening questions of those entering the university grounds prior to entry; provides no-contact temperature screening with temperature gun for each employee and/or visitor entering the grounds following CDC Guidelines; educates those desiring to enter facilities on the practices and protocols for entry and provides masks as needed; reports to manager or administration any person(s) who refuses and/or does not pass the screening guidelines; maintains confidentially of all employee/visitor information; provides optimum customer service; other administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor.


The Entrance Clerk will be required to provide a person with a wrist band to show they have completed the questionnaire and temperature check; prepare materials, such as the wrist bands, for use; be required to wear appropriate protective gear, such as a face mask, face shield, and gloves while taking temperatures (client can provide the PPE if needed); wear appropriate PPE gear such as a face mask, face shield, and gloves Position will be based at designated entrances to all university-related campus locations.


This is a part-time position for now but may/may not be temporary.

This position is grant funded and continued employment is contingent upon sponsor approval and consistent funding levels.



$10-$14 per hour
