SUMMARY

Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Online Associate position. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana.  It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System.  The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Network Technician will provide services to support the university computer network, wireless, telephones, WAN and LAN resources. Install equipment, configure and manage Windows servers, switches, routers, firewall, and troubleshoot network problems. Conduct routine assessments and compile documentation regarding the University’s network and computer systems.   

PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:

 

The network technician will provide services to support the university computer network, wireless telephone system, WAN and LAN resources including AD Manager, Email, computer laboratories, etc. Install equipment, configure and manage Windows Servers, switches, routers, firewall, and troubleshoot network problems. Install operating systems and applications software in a Windows OS environment, and provide technical help-desk support to students, faculty and staff. Conduct routine assessments and compile documentation regarding the University’s network computer systems. Additional duties include.

 

  • Monitor and troubleshoot network equipment errors and server equipment
  • Configure and set up new servers and computers needed by the university and the external clients
  • Perform routine maintenance to the university firewall, email and internal network security
  • Maintain anti-spam and anti-virus applications needed to protect the entire network
  • Ensure secure a proper network connectivity to servers and other internal equipment
  • Install, configure and maintain servers, cables, switches and hardware appliances
  • Monitor Microsoft Active Directory services and network infrastructure
  • Configure and install VOIP telephones

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • S or A.S. degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of 2-years’ experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Cisco and/or Microsoft Certification

 

Compensation:

$35,000 - $40,000
