Paramedic Program Director
SUMMARY
The Paramedic Program Director is responsible for the initial startup of the Paramedic Program at SUSLA. He/she will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Paramedic Program including, but not limited, to establishing and maintaining accreditation through Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position assists in the evaluating, planning and coordinating of participant plans.
- Oversee instructional and clinical experiences of students.
- Possess knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and agencies governing medical education programs.
- Provide over sight in all areas of EMS and Paramedic trainings.
- Conduct student evaluations of cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains.
- Manage student records and program documents in a professional, confidential and timely manner.
- Assist in recruitment of prospective students to program.
- Establish contracts for clinical experiences for paramedic students.
- Pursue opportunities for professional development.
- Coordinate and meet with the Medical Director on a regular basis.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3 years teaching or coordinating EMS courses
- Louisiana State Paramedic Certification and NREMT Paramedic Certification
- Two-three years administrative experience
- Valid Louisiana Driver’s License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree
- Five (5) years teaching in Paramedic Program
