Humanities
Program Overview
Degree Type: Associate Degree - Concentration
In alignment with SUSLA’s mission, the Division of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education (AHSSE) provides a comprehensive liberal arts education that prepares students for teaching, service, workforce development, and lifelong learning. Through the fine arts, humanities, social sciences, and education, the division develops critical skills in analysis, interpretation, communication, collaboration, civic engagement, and self-discovery. Because nearly every SUSLA student takes courses within AHSSE, the division provides essential knowledge and skills that support success across a wide range of careers and educational pathways.
The Louisiana Transfer Associate Degree is designed to streamline transfer from a two-year institution to a four-year public university in Louisiana. Students complete 60 credit hours, including a 39-hour General Education block and 21 additional hours, and may earn an Associate of Arts/Louisiana Transfer (AA/LT) or Associate of Science/Louisiana Transfer (AS/LT).
Students who complete the degree with a grade of “C” or better in each course are eligible to transfer all 60 non-developmental credits and enter a participating four-year public university with junior status. Students should research their intended bachelor’s degree requirements and consult with an advisor to ensure prerequisite courses are included in their AA/LT or AS/LT program of study.
