Summary

Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Director of College Connect position. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana. It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System. The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

Position Overview:

The Director of College Connect plays a pivotal role in advancing the academic goals of College Connect and University Outreach Programs at Southern University Shreveport. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Innovation, this leadership position is responsible for providing strategic direction and supervision to ensure the success of students enrolled in College Connect. The Director serves as a critical liaison between staff, faculty, and students on both the SUBR and SUNO campuses, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from student recruitment and admissions coordination to faculty support and program resource management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with area Campus College Connect coordinators to ensure the success of students enrolled in College Connect.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between staff, faculty, and students at Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR) and Southern University New Orleans (SUNO) campuses.
  • Works closely with the Directors of Admissions to identify and recruit eligible students for SUSLA Connect, actively contributing to the growth of the program.
  • Works closely with SUSLA Director of Admissions to ensure students are properly admitted to the Program.
  • Works closely with Directors of Financial Aid to ensure federal aid is processed and awarded.
  • Organize and Coordinates registration and advising for SUSLA Connect students.
  • Collaborate with respective Divisional Deans to assign faculty to courses and provide them with the necessary resources and support to deliver a quality educational experience.
  • Offer comprehensive support services to students to foster their success in the program.
  • Coordinate the expenditure of program funds in a responsible and efficient manner.
  • Facilitate the recruitment of both faculty and students for the Program, contributing to its growth and impact.
  • Maintain accurate program records for faculty, staff, and students to support efficient operations.
  • Conduct program meetings and maintain meeting minutes to foster effective communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor student progress to ensure a successful transition into a four-year institution, supporting their educational journey.
  • Be prepared for occasional travel and willing to drive university-leased vehicles as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the College Connect program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Educational Administration and Supervision, Educational Leadership or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful management experience in academic or its equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethics in data collection and analysis
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and effective decision-making and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail is essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctorate in related field
  • Higher Education experience

This position will be housed on the Baton Rouge Campus

Compensation: $59,000-$65,000
