Program Information/Restrictions

(Steps by step information for successful admission and timely completion of the program). 

  1. Declare Surgical Technology as your major.
  2. Register in courses that are required prior to enrollment in the pre-clinical courses:
  3. Freshmen English 3cr.
  4. Medical Terminology 3cr.
  5. Human Anatomy and Physiology Lec/Lab 3cr/1cr

 Note: If you have taken most

  1. Enroll in the Freshman Year – Pre-clinical courses.
  2. Apply for Admission in Clinical soon after Mid-Term of the First semester Pre-clinical Surgical Technology/Allied Health courses first
  3. Complete the Health Form
  4. Complete the Criminal background
  5. Pick up your scrubs
  6. Most surgeries start early. To maximize hands-on participation in surgery cases, clinical rotation schedule is conducted in Affiliated Hospitals’ Operating Rooms Monday- Wednesday- Friday (6:30AM – 2:30PM).
  7. Case requirements as required by the Program Accreditation Standards is completed in three semesters.

  1. Complete competency review courses that cover previously learned material in preparation for the National Certification Exam in the fall, spring, and summer semester of the sophomore year.
  2. Assume responsibility to schedule tutoring when needed to perform successfully on competency exams.
  3. Complete an Application for National Certification Exam (CST) and seat for the CST exam.
