Who is eligible for The Williams Center?

Male students enrolled at SUSLA with at least a 2.0 GPA, majoring in STEM, Education, or Allied Health. Priority given to first-generation and low-income students.

What does the program cover?

Up to $2,000 per year in scholarships and stipends, plus tuition assistance, on-campus housing, meal plan, textbooks, professional attire, and access to academic counseling and mentorship.

What are my obligations as a Williams Scholar?

Maintain 2.0 GPA, attend weekly check-ins, participate in community service projects, attend peer group meetings, and abide by SUSLA Code of Conduct.

Can I work while in the program?

The program provides comprehensive financial support including a stipend. Students are encouraged to focus on academics, though work-study opportunities may be available.

What happens after I complete my program at SUSLA?

Scholars are supported in transferring to four-year institutions including Southern University Baton Rouge, Southern University New Orleans, and other universities. Over 60% of our scholars have successfully transferred to four-year schools or entered the workforce.

How do I apply?

Complete the online application form or download the printable application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

When is the application deadline?

Applications are accepted year-round, but priority consideration is given to applications received by June 30th. Contact Director Ted Scott for current cohort openings.

How can I support the Williams Center?
