Computer Information Systems
Degree Type: Certificate of Applied Science
The Certificate of Applied Science designed to attract students who desire to learn about technology as it relates to business rather than from a scientific perspective.
After graduation, a student will be able to go directly into the workforce into various computer-related fields, or the student may choose to continue their educational path at a higher institution in Computer Information Systems or Management Information Systems.
All students completing 27 credit hours of course work in the Computer Information Systems program and meeting all relevant university requirements will be awarded a Certificate in Computer Information Systems. Any elective credit hours taken can be satisfied with CIS courses or CMPS courses or Business Management courses. Any student seeking a Computer Information System certificate along with an AS in Business Administration or AS in Computer Science will have to meet the general education requirement only once. All prerequisites are requirements. NOTE: Students enrolled in the Computer Information Systems curriculum can take any programming courses in the Computer Science (CMPS) curriculum or programming courses in the Web Development (CWEB) curriculum to satisfy the CIS electives requirement.

Please note: To receive the Computer Information Systems Certificate coupled with the Computer Science Associate Degree in the same semester of graduation, the student must complete an additional (9) nine credit-hours of the required courses labeled “CISC" within the Computer Information Systems Certificate curriculum.
NOTE** CISC Courses prefixed with"**" are the required courses to satisfy the additional nine credit hours.
