Degree Type: Associate of General Studies - Concentration

The Sociology Concentration within the Associate of General Studies degree provides students with a broad academic foundation for understanding people, communities, cultures, and the social issues that shape society. Through coursework in sociology, psychology, government, history, cultural anthropology, and urban studies, students explore topics such as marriage and family, minorities in America, modern social problems, and the relationships between individuals and their communities.

The program also develops communication, critical-thinking, and general academic skills through coursework in English, science, mathematics, public speaking, and the humanities.

With 61 credit hours, this degree provides a well-rounded foundation for students interested in sociology and related fields or planning to continue their education at the bachelor's level.
