Book Signing: Press L. Robinson Sr.

The Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport proudly invites the public to a special book signing event with longtime educator, community leader, and trailblazer Press L. Robinson Sr. on February 12, with two opportunities to meet the author: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Robinson, a distinguished figure in education and civil rights, will sign copies of his compelling memoir, which chronicles his journey from a hardscrabble childhood in South Carolina to his transformative roles as a professor, administrator, and advocate for equity in Louisiana. His memoir delves into his education at Morehouse College and Howard University, his tenure within the Southern University system, and his historic election as the first Black member of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board.

With over four decades of service in higher education—including positions as Associate Vice Chancellor at Southern University Baton Rouge, Chancellor at Southern University New Orleans, and Vice President of the Southern University System—Robinson’s story is a testament to resilience, leadership, and the ongoing fight for social justice.

This event offers attendees the opportunity to engage with a true pioneer, hear firsthand accounts of his experiences, and purchase a signed copy of his inspiring memoir.
