It is with great sadness that we send our condolences to the family of Dr. Dolores R. Spikes, former President of the Southern University System. She was a trailblazer in the field of higher education and stands out as a leader in the history of Southern, most notably, having served as the first woman in the United States to head a university system and was also the first female chancellor of a public university in the State of Louisiana.
