SU Day at the Capitol: Dr. Aubra J. Gantt, Chancellor, and SUSLA Students Connect with State Leaders
It was truly a great day to be a Jaguar!
Dr. Aubra J. Gantt, Southern University at Shreveport Chancellor, joined our incredible students, faculty, and staff at SU Day at the Capitol in Baton Rouge. Standing alongside Student Government Association President Kyndryck Green and our dedicated Dental Hygiene students, the spirit of SUSLA was on full display.
SUSLA students and staff connected with Southern University System leaders, legislators, policymakers, and educators—sharing not just the mission of SUSLA, but the life-changing impact it has on students every single day. Dr. Kim Hunter Reed-Commissioner of Higher Education, State Representative Joy Walters, SU System Board of Supervisors Chairman Tony Clayton, and SU System Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Reggie Abraham were among many leaders in attendance.
What made the day even more special was watching our students shine. Our Dental Hygiene program proudly showcased how SUSLA prepares students for meaningful, high-demand careers while serving the needs of our communities. With compassion and purpose, students handed out toothbrushes and toothpaste, while educating others on the importance of oral health—small acts that make a lasting difference.
Moments like these remind us that SUSLA is more than an institution—it’s a family, a foundation, and a pathway to brighter futures. The Jaguar pride, passion, and purpose we witnessed today will continue to ripple far beyond the Capitol steps.
