The Powerplant Maintenance Technology Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) prepares students with the technical knowledge and skills needed to work with aircraft engines and related powerplant systems.
Students build a strong foundation in basic electricity, aviation regulations, aircraft materials and processes, ground operations, aircraft drawings, technical physics, and technical mathematics before advancing to specialized powerplant coursework.
Training includes turbine engines, ignition and starting systems, engine inspection, lubrication, fuel and metering systems, induction, cooling and exhaust systems, propellers, engine electrical systems, engine instruments, fire protection, and engine overhaul and installation. The 41-credit-hour program provides focused technical preparation for students pursuing opportunities in aviation powerplant maintenance.
