SUSLA COMMUNITY TO "BRING HEAT" FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

Higher Education Day

Over 100 faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) will be headed to Baton Rouge on Wednesday, February 24 to participate in “Higher Education Day at the Capitol”, a rally to be held on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol at 12:00 noon.  The SUSLA delegation will be leaving the SUSLA campus, located at 3050 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Wednesday at 6:00am for Baton Rouge.

Members of the SUSLA community and the Southern University System community will joined by supporters in the Legislature, and other members of the higher education community to express concerns over the budget cuts to higher education in general and Southern University specifically.

In addition to SUSLA’s participation in the rally, Levi K. Brown, SUSLA SGA President will participate in a meeting called by Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards for all statewide Student Government Association presidents. The meeting will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm at the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion.
