Academic Advising

Your academic advising team depends on where you are in your academic journey.

Degree-seeking students who have earned 31 or fewer credit hours are assigned to the Center for Student Success, where a Student Success Coach will guide you through course selection, academic planning, and registration. Once you successfully complete 31 credit hours, you transition to your academic division, where a faculty or program advisor within your major department will support you for the remainder of your time at SUSLA.

Students pursuing a certificate or technical diploma are advised by the academic program advisor in their respective division from the start of their program.

Students with 0-31 Credit Hours:

Center for Student Succes - Fewer than 31 Credit Hours

Degree-seeking students who have earned 31 or fewer credit hours are assigned to the Center for Student Success for academic advising and registration assistance. Advisors are assigned by your last name. Your advisor is a Student Success Coach who will work with you one-on-one to build your academic plan and support your progress toward graduation.

Once you have earned 32 credit hours, you will be released to your academic department for continued advising.
