Admission Requirements
Before taking any Surgical Technology related courses, the student must have taken the following courses and earned a “C” or better
- SENG 101 Freshman English
- ALLH 210S Medical Terminology
- SBIO 221S Anatomy and Physiology I
Listed below are Surgical Technology preclinical courses that must be completed before applying to the program.
NOTE: These courses may not be older than one (1) year from the clinical start date. Students must have earned a “C” or better in each course.
- SURG 101S Introduction to Surgical Technology (2 Cr. Hr.)
- SURG 103S Introduction to Surgical Practice (3 Cr. Hr.)
- ALLH 112S Pathology (3 Cr. Hr.)
- ALLH 124S Perioperative Pharmacology & Anesthesia (3 Cr. Hr.)
Admission to the Surgical Technology Program are in the Spring and Summer.
Program Restrictions
- Declare Surgical Technology as your major.
- Register in courses that are required prior to enrollment in the pre-clinical courses: Freshmen English 3cr, Medical Terminology 3cr, Human Anatomy, and Physiology Lec/Lab 3cr/1cr
- Enroll in the Freshman Year – Pre-clinical courses.
- Apply for Admission in Clinical soon after Mid-Term of the First semester Pre-clinical Surgical Technology/Allied Health courses first
- Complete the Health Form
- Complete the Criminal background
- Pick up your scrubs
- Complete competency review courses that cover previously learned material in preparation for the National Certification Exam in the fall, spring, and summer semester of the sophomore year.
- Assume responsibility to schedule tutoring when needed to perform successfully on competency exams.
- Complete an Application for National Certification Exam (CST) and seat for the CST exam.
