SUMMARY

Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Program Coordinator- Aerospace position. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana.  It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System.  The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Title III Program Coordinator assists the Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs/Title III on all aspects of the Title III, Strengthening HBCUs grant. The Coordinator will work closely with Title III Activity Directors and coordinating the training and development for unique Title III Technical Workshops held at the University regarding the development of program goals, measurable objectives, performance indicators, effective implementation strategies, and in preparing quantitative and qualitative reports, etc. This is a full-time, grant-funded 12-month position contingent upon continued funding levels.

  • Assists in the daily administration of the Title III program in such a manner as to maximize the grant for the strengthening of the University, the advancement of the Mission, and the implementation of the Strategic Plan.
  • Ensures all reports (e.g. time and effort, performance, etc.) are completed and submitted in a timely manner and performs data recording and record-keeping operations
  • Provides technical support to Title III Activity Directors to monitor the progress of grant-funded projects to include goals, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, and all other terms and conditions of the Grant Award Notification (GAN) through regular communication, meetings, evaluation and corrective action.
  • Ensuring effective office operations including processing forms, maintenance of records, responding to inquiries, preparing reports, coordinating meetings, and recording minutes of meetings for distribution.
  • Facilitate a culture of grant development by coordinating and facilitating training for Activity Directors and Title III-supported personnel.
  • Ensures that expenditures are reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Assists with preparing paperwork and drafts correspondence for negotiation/acceptance of grant terms and conditions, modifications, extensions, and related administrative matters.
  • Maintains updates to the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs webpage and other outlets for dissemination of grant outcomes.
  • In the absence of the Director, serves as a liaison between the U.S. Department of Education and the University.
  • Enhances contributions of the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs team to support desired SUSLA outcomes by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required; travel is required

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Education, Business or related field.
  • At least two years of successful professional experience in college administration, federal relations or development or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A combination of the following is preferred: procurement (federal, state or industrial), proposal submissions, contract negotiations, grant and contract administration, and/or financial administration

COMPENSATION:

$47,000 to $55,000 (Compensation will be within this range and commensurate with education and work experience).
