SUSLA BOASTS RECORD ENROLLMENT FOR SPRING 2016 SEMESTER

Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) has enrolled a record headcount of 3,242 students for the Spring 2016 semester. This follows a previous record Fall 2015 semester enrollment of 3,174 students.
DAVID BANNER TO ADDRESS SUSLA STUDENTS FOR SPRING CONVOCATION

Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) is proud to welcome award winning artist, activist and philanthropist David Banner at the university’s Spring Convocation to be held Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Health and Physical Education Complex (Gym), 3050 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.
SUSLA FORGES ADDITIONAL PARTNERSHIP WITH LSUS THROUGH ARTICULATION AGREEMENT

A joint agreement that will make it easier for Psychology students at Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) to complete a bachelor’s degree at LSU Shreveport was formalized during a ceremony Monday, Dec. 14 at SUSLA. The two campuses completed an alliance agreement during a 9:30 a.m. signing ceremony in the Southern University Library located on the MLK Campus. SUSLA Interim Chancellor S. Albert Gilliam and LSUS Chancellor Larry Clark were joined by other officials from both schools for the event.
SUSLA Wins Shreveport Green Tree Award

Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) is the recipient of the Shreveport Green Tree Award, an award given in conjunction with the celebration of Arbor Day, designated to encourage the planting and maintenance of trees.
SUSLA participates in International Education Week

The SUSLA Baptist Collegiate Ministry hosted an international education luncheon for members of the SUSLA community as a part of the national observance of International Education Week. The event was held Monday, November 16 in the Jesse Stone Lecture Hall on the MLK campus.
Search underway for new SUSLA Chancellor

Two separate search committees comprised of a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders will screen applicants and select finalists for two SU System campus chancellors. The Southern University Shreveport (SUSLA) and the SU Law Center (SULC) Search Committees will assist the SU System with selecting replacements for Ray L. Belton, the former SUSLA chancellor who was named SU System President-Chancellor in June, and for retired judge Freddie Pitcher Jr. who stepped down as SULC chancellor in June.
SUSLA receives generous donation from AT&T Louisiana

Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana (SUSLA), Division of Community & Workforce Development is the recipient of a donation in the amount of $1,500 from AT&T Louisiana to support students enrolled in the University’s Adult Education Program. The award was presented at the office of State Senator, Gregory Tarver, by David Aubrey, AT&T State Director of External Affairs.
SUSLA honors service members at Veterans Day tribute

Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) honored veterans at the campus’ annual Veterans Day Tribute Ceremony. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 10am in the Jesse Stone Lecture Hall on the main campus, located at 3050 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.
SUSLA Partners with Capital One Bank to open innovative technology center

Southern University at Shreveport became host to an innovative technology center thanks to generous donations totaling more than $50,000 from Capital One Bank to fund and support the project. The Capital One Career Technology Center (COCTC) was unveiled in a grand opening ceremony Tuesday, November 10, at 10 a.m., 3000 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Shreveport, LA, at the site of the former Newton Smith Elementary School and home to the YouthBuild Shreveport Program.
SUSLA holds annual "Jaguars for the Cure" Celebrations

The SUSLA community came together to remember those who have lost their lives, celebrate those who have overcome the disease and to raise further awareness of breast cancer in two annual “Jaguars for the Cure” Breast Cancer Awareness Programs on October 8 (Metro Campus) and October 29 (MLK Campus).
