Program Information/Restrictions
(Steps by step information for successful admission and timely completion of the program).
- Declare Sterile Processing Technology as your major.
- Contact the Sterile Processing Department or the Allied Health office for advisement.
- Obtain your Application for clinical the first day of class and complete it by the 10th day of classes.
- Complete the criminal background included in the application form by the 7th day of class.
- Complete the Health form by 30th day of class.
- In addition to skills training, courses offered are preparation for success on the voluntary for Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification program.
- CRCST test is voluntary national exam offered by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM). Prior to applying to take the test, proof of having completed a minimum of 400 hours of hands-on experience in a Central Service Department, on a paid or volunteer basis must be submitted.
- There are three options for completing the 400 hour:
- Schedule extra hours of clinical rotation to volunteer in CS Department before graduation.
- Arrange with the Program to assign you clinical sites where you can volunteer in CS Department.
- Work in CS Department after graduation and provide documentation of a 6 months of experience.
