Program Information/Restrictions

 

(Steps by step information for successful admission and timely completion of the program).

 

  1. Declare Sterile Processing Technology as your major.
  2. Contact the Sterile Processing Department or the Allied Health office for advisement.
  3. Obtain your Application for clinical the first day of class and complete it by the 10th day of classes.
  4. Complete the criminal background included in the application form by the 7th day of class.
  5. Complete the Health form by 30th day of class.
  6. In addition to skills training, courses offered are preparation for success on the voluntary for Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification program.
  7. CRCST test is voluntary national exam offered by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM). Prior to applying to take the test, proof of having completed a minimum of 400 hours of hands-on experience in a Central Service Department, on a paid or volunteer basis must be submitted.
  8. There are three options for completing the 400 hour:
  9. Schedule extra hours of clinical rotation to volunteer in CS Department before graduation.
  10. Arrange with the Program to assign you clinical sites where you can volunteer in CS Department.
  11. Work in CS Department after graduation and provide documentation of a 6 months of experience.
