Upward Bound South

The purpose of the Upward Bound South Program is to identify and provide services for students in the Caddo Parish School Districts.   The services are designed to assist students who are Low Income, First Generation participants. To provide fundamental support to participants in their ACT Preparation, Academic Tutoring, and Counseling Services.  The goal of the Upward Bound Program is to increase the rate in which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. 

 

Who is Eligible?

 

Students must have completed the 8th grade, be between the ages of 13 and 19, and have a need for academic support in order to pursue a program of postsecondary education. All students must be either from low-income families or be potential first-generation college students.  Ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth -graders are eligible to apply.

 

The host site for the Upward Bound South program is Southern University at Shreveport.
