BIOGRAPHY

LaChandra Wells, MHA, RHIT has served in the Health Information Management profession for seventeen (17) years. Five (5) years of her career, she served as a Medical Coder III for a large acute care health facility. For several years, she has served in the capacity of the Professional Practice Experience Coordinator & Assistant Professor for the Health Information Technology/Medical Coding Specialist Programs at Southern University at Shreveport

Biography:

Venus Ammons, AAS, RHIT has served in the Health Information Management profession for nine (9) years.  Over the last two (2) years, she has served as an Instructor in the HIT / Medical Coding Specialist Program at Southern University at Shreveport.  Venus has also served as an Operations Coordinator and Release of Information Specialist over a six (6) year period.  Ms. Ammons teaching philosophy, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”. This quote is the foundation of my teaching philosophy.  The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow. As an Instructor, I strongly believe that fostering critical thinking skills is at the heart of what we do in education. I am committed to giving students the tools they need to see their own value, analyze information, and effectively solve problems. Providing the students with knowledge that will help them be successful in achieving their goals and becoming model citizens.
