Positive Placement and RPSGT Exam Pass Rates
Student success is one of the primary objectives of the Polysomnographic Technology program at Southern University at Shreveport. Specifically Positive placement and Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) exam pass rate are two of the ways we measure student success.
Positive placement means the graduate is employed full or part-time in polysomnography; and/or continuing his/her education; and/or serving in the military.

*Note: Our program has a 75% pass rate based on students that took the exam within 6 months post-graduation. 50% cumulative pass rate as of December 12, 2024.
1 The RPSGT Exam pass rates are based on data from the BRPT Annual School Report, which follows a reporting cycle from September 1st to August 31st each year.
2 Analysis of our graduates’ outcomes shows that timing has a clear impact on exam performance. Students who sat for the registry exam within six months of graduation achieved a 75% pass rate. However, among those who delayed taking the exam for more than six months, the pass rate dropped to 67%. This indicates that the longer students wait after graduation to take the national exam, the more their likelihood of passing decreases.
